This gets its own post, due to length.

Volume 1: Snow, and his brother Night were born from a human mother, but they themselves aren't human. Sometimes there are human women who gives birth to another creature's offspring. Their mother did that, and she tried to get rid of them, but failed. They were then taken in my the Hachiouji clan. They were given to Takamichi, the young mistress, who at first didn't want to take them in (she's a cat person), but after hearing them cry and calling out for their mama, she decided to take care of them. She tells them she needs them, and they promise to always stay by her side.

Snow was the first one out of the brothers to learn how to transform himself into a human. Takamichi gave him clothes. Both him and Night felt like Takamichi wasn't seeing them half of the time, and Snow claimed that it was Night's fault for not being able to transform yet. It had them both in tears. Night decided to start working out that night, and he accidentially landed on Snow's tail. That made Snow upset, and they started fighting. When Takamichi walked in on them, Snow was biting Night, and they both got yelled at. When Snow cried and told her that Night stepped on his tail, she yelled at him that "someone who would hurt his own brother is no minion of mine!" and she punished him by making him stay in the corridor and think about his actions. It made Snow cry, and Night run away from home. Snow went out to search for Night, and saw him almost getting eaten by a ghoul. Snow tries to attack it, but being so small, it didn't do much. Just as the ghoul was about to devour Night, Takamichi came to save them. At first they're scared of her being angry, and are surprised when she hugs them and thanks god they're all right. That night is the first time Night transforms too. Snow apologizes in tears for biting his brother, and Night says he's sorry for stepping on Snow's tail.

When they were about a year old, they started talking to Moon, Takamichi's dad's jiu jiu. They said that Takamichi didn't want them, so why would they bother becoming strong jiu jiu. But Moon tells them that they're wrong, that she does want them. Otherwise, she wouldn't have bothered giving them names. Since then, the three regularly talk about things, that Takamichi won't understand since they're in their wolf forms. Three years later, Snow and Night are Takamichi's Jiu jiu, the half-human, half-animal hunting partners of the Dark Hunters, and they still cling to her as if they were puppies. A pair of overgrown puppy dogs, who are actually wolves.

They 'enroll' in Takamichi's school, using her last name, just to keep close to her, and to find out exactly what happens in a school. Snow (and Night) wants to keep close to her always, and want to be there to protect her.

Even though Snow and Night were grounded for fighting each other, they escape their pen/cage and get hurt protecting her against a demons, ignoring her orders to fall back, because she doesn't want to lose them, like she lost her brother. They tell her the same, as they defeat the demon. When back home, they barge into the bathroom, and when she finds them in her bed the next morning, they get punished by having to act like roads, lying in the doorway to the classroom. Not that anyone wants to step on them, but just having them lie there seems to be enough.

Later, when she has fought demons again, they come after her, but since she is thinking about her brother's death, and how she doesn't want them to dirty their pure souls, she yells at them to don't touch her. That scares them, and a time after that is awkward between them. But in the end, the pups end up in her bed by morning.

One night, Takamichi is going out on a night with a full moon, to hunt down a werewolf, and they sneak out despite their orders never to go out during a full moon, as they are affected by it, and Snow and Night attack the werewolf by biting it to near death. That is when they are allowed to properly help with the hunting, as they make Takamichi understand that no matter what, they won't go away. She doesn't want them to be like her, but they already are. They are there to share her sins.

Later, Takamichi finds and read Night's diary, and when Night sees that, he gets upset, and Takamichi comforts him by telling him "Good dog". That makes Snow jealous. He gets even more jealous when Takamichi goes with Night to buy him new glasses, and seeing her lead him by the arm when he can't see without glasses doesn't make things better. He starts feeling weird, and he blames on it nearly being full moon. He thinks she doesn't want him, and the full moon drives him mad, making him think it's all because of Night, so he's going to kill him. When he thinks he's biting Night, Takamich gets in the way, and he bites her instead. This makes him terrified, and even more convinced that she likes Night better than him. Because of Snow biting Takamichi, the moon's influence makes Night mad as well, and he tries to attack Snow, but ends up biting Takamichi's arm instead. Snow wonders why she would protect him, and she tells them she loves them both. Not just one of them.

Because of this, they were supposed to be killed, because of the law of the clans, but they are saved by Takamichi and her father, who stops the clan members who were about to kill them from doing so. He has a soft spot for wolves.

Volume 2:
In the summer, Snow and Night doesn't insist on sleeping in Takamichi's bed like they usually do. It's too hot for that. But it makes Takamichi feel lonely, and when they notice that, they say they're sorry, even though she denies that she's lonely. But they can tell, because they used to look like that. Still they can't keep close though, as it's too hot. Only then does Takamichi the air conditioning.

When they're out playing, they meet the pig vampire prince, Meru. Takamichi's maternal instincts kick in for the first time, and the pups get really jealous. They want to eat him. Both of them worry about the vampire prince sucking Takamichi's blood that they stay awake to keep an eye on him all night, resulting in them getting woozy in the heat because they're lacking sleep. The pig vampire prince leaves after sucking her blood to save her from another of the vampires.

They go to the sea with the class. There, it turns out that the house they live in is haunted, and they have to stop the spirit living there. Takamichi ends up with another follower, Lily, that night. They meet Meru again, who is there to suck more of her blood. Meru tricks Snow and Night to defeat a siren that lives on a tiny island near the beach where they are. While they're gone, Takamichi gets worried and chases after them. At that time Meru manages to drink her blood. He had counted on the brothers dying on that island, but they come back to kick him in the face.

When they come back to school, Meru has started attending the school as well. He tells Snow and Night that they behave like children, laughing at them. That's when he finds out that they're not even four years old. In the end, that just makes him say more mean things about them. It makes Snow want to prove that he is completely independent. Given he can't do his own buttons, it's not going as he wants it to.

During that phase, Snow and Night finds out that they completely missed out on Takamichi's birthday. They hadn't noticed, because they didn't get any presents! Turns out, they had completely misunderstood who gives who presents on birthdays. They get it properly explained by their classmates, and they try to think of ways to please Takamichi. First, the class dresses them up as butlers, then as maids, though neither seems to do the trick. When she finds out about it, she tells them that they don't need to bother, because she hasn't had her birthday, which confuses them, because she did say she was 17 now, and she was 16 before, so it's not like she doesn't age. That's when they find out about her dead twin brother. She doesn't want to celebrate her birthday, because without her brother, it's like she doesn't exist herself. But Snow and Night gives her a present, which is Night's diary, converted into a book about Takamichi, by the two of them. In tears, they tell her that if she doesn't exist, then they don't exist either. And they are right there, aren't they! And so she says she's sorry, and that she's sorry she lost her way. She thanks them for being born.

Volume 3: When Snow, Night and Takamichi are on their way home from playing in the flower fields, they encounter a monster who is protecting its babies. They only notice this after having killed the adult, and they wonder what they're going to do with them (the pups saying that they don't look tasty). That's when Nekozane Mika, Takamichi's ex-fiancé, shows up, and he kills them without a second thought. He mocks Takamichi for caring about monsters like them, and not to let her feelings get the better of her, even though he's got a jiu jiu on his own. Seijurou, Takamichi's current fiancé shows up, fireing a shot in their direction to separate Mika and Takamichi, who have their weapons at each other's throats. Snow gets pissed off, and warns them that if they're going to pick a fight with Takamichi, he's going to take them all on. It all turns awkward for Snow when Mika leaveswith his jiu jiu, White, and Seijuro's jiu jiu, Ripple, starts fawning over him, asking him questions and making him annoyed.

Night is upset over how useless his liking of Takamichi is, if she's going to get married to Seijuro anyway, and in his frustration, he rips apart the flower crown that Snow had made for Takamichi, making Snow cry. Takamichi slaps Night, who then runs away. While they're looking for Night, Snow asks her not to hit Night again, because it hurt him too. Snow is crying so much that he can't find Night's scent. They find him, and when he runs, Takamichi calls out that she's falling, causing Night to stop, and Takamichi to catch him. She says she's sorry, and she sits next to him on the ground, talking. It's almost full moon, and Snow, seeing that, gets jealous.

Back at the clan's house, there is a meeting going on. One that Takamichi is supposed to attend, as the family's heir. She arrives along with Night and Snow, apologizing for being late. The clans start to talk about Snow and Night, who are rumoured to have the blood of fenrir coursing through their veins. They insult them, calling them delicate-looking, claiming that humans would be more useful than "mixed bloods" like them. Takamichi keeps Snow and Night from getting upset by making animals, like bunnies, with her fingers behind her back. They get forced to leave the meeting to get into proper clothing, and while they change, Night and Snow talk about Seijuro. Snow claims that there's no need to accept him, just because he's Takamichi's fiancé. The serious moments is soon ruined by Snow complaining about buttons.

They know that they have to be on their best behaviour. The clans can't wait for an excuse to kill "mixed bloods" like them. The best behavious doesn't last too long though, as Snow gets drunk, and starts to strip. Ripple takes him away to put him to bed, but since she has a perverted look on her face, Takamichi sends Night to keep an eye on them. But when Night reaches them, Ripple is unconscious, and Snow can't be spotted. He's there though, and attacks Night from behind.

But Night dodges, and they fight for a short amount of blows, until they notice that Ripple is awake. Snow intends to get rid of her and Seijuro, and wants Night's help doing it. It seems like Night is going to help, when Ripple yells at them that they can't understand Seijuro's feelings, he who has loved Takamichi for 10 years. That has Night stopping, and Snow gets a cut across his chest from Ripple's Aralia-leaf fan. Though it seems like it was half intentional, or that he didn't notice at first, as he doesn't even blink. But when he has hit her unconscious, he's crying, holding on to himself. When Night doesn't want to move, being in too much shock, Snow leaves.

Snow shows up in the corridor, seeing Mika and Takamichi arguing. Being affected by the near full moon, Snow has been driven mad again. There's blood on his hand, and Takamichi cries out. It doesn't go unheard, and knowing that if Snow is seen like that, they have to hide him. While struggling against Snow, Mika brings him into the pond outside. While

Mika ties his arm cover around Snow's chest to do something about the blood coming out of the cut to Snow's chest, he asks who hurt him. Snow yells that it's got nothing to do with him. Mika punches him unconscious, and brings Snow to the infirmary, but leaves right after, claiming that he's got something to take care of.

Snow doesn't stay for long in the infirmary, as he runs out to protect Takamichi, who is about to attack Kankuro, Seijuro's brother, whom, according to Mika, was the one who killed her brother Takayuki. Since he's right in the way of her already moving blade, she would have stabbed him, had not Night grabbed a hold of her hands. Takamichi's father, and Moon, has arrived, and stop Mika and Kankuro from killing each other. The fight ends, and Night promises that he won't run away anymore, while he and Snow hold on to Takamichi.
